More About Sander
Thank you for being here and for taking a moment to read about a journey that means the world to us.
My name is Sander van der Fluit. I’ve always been driven by curiosity and a love for adventure, a passion that led me to the world of endurance cycling. But for as long as I can remember, another, darker constant has traveled alongside me and my family: cancer.
It’s a shadow that has touched so many people I love. I've lost my grandmother, an uncle, and an aunt. I’ve watched my own father fight it. I stood by as one of my closest friends lost his wife, and his children lost their mother. Just last year, two more dear friends had to put their entire lives on hold to begin their own battles.
Cancer is relentless, and sadly, I know this story isn't unique to me. I am certain that every person reading this has their own story, their own list of loved ones affected by this devastating disease.
It is this shared experience, this universal fight, that compels us to act. This coming May and June of 2026, two friends and I, each with our own deeply personal connection to this cause, will channel our passion for cycling into a purpose. We are embarking on an epic journey from Estonia to Gibraltar, riding not just as adventurers, but as sons, brothers, and friends who refuse to simply stand by.
We will ride nearly 7,000 kilometers, cross 24 countries, and climb thousands of meters in elevation. Every push of the pedal will be a tribute to those we've lost and a message of hope for those who are still fighting.
